Scroll down for live updates following Trump’s landslide election victory
DONALD Trump is on his way to achieving a historic election clean sweep not seen in 40 years after capturing all seven key swing states in the election.
The president-elect won key battlegrounds – Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina – and is now projected to win Arizona and Nevada.
And he will become the first candidate from either party to pull that off since Ronald Reagan’s historic 1984 reelection landslide victory where he won 49 states.
The seven swing states, which usually play the pivotal role in deciding who wins the presidential election every four years, were left wildly divided since 2016 when Trump defeated the then-Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in all but Nevada.
And in 2020, Biden managed to win all the swing states except North Carolina.
Trump is now projected to win Nevada as well as Arizona, the only two key battlegrounds that are yet to be called for.
The president-elect is also on the verge of winning The House after his party flipped the race to win the Senate.
Republicans are edging closer to winning the House each day as more votes from the various counties continue to be declared – with just over two dozen races left to be called.
Trump is also on track to bag the popular vote – in what would be a Republican first for over 20 years.
Meanwhile, Joe Biden made his first appearance to address the nation after Donald Trump swept to victory in the 2024 election.
Speaking from the White House rose garden, Biden, 81, conceded the vote was “honest and fair” and admitted he had called Donald Trump with a message of congratulations.
The outgoing President gave a rambling defence of his time in office and insisted he was leaving behind the “strongest economy in the world”.
A surprisingly upbeat and cogent Biden promised to “ensure a peaceful and orderly transition”, but insisted that “defeat does not mean we are defeated”.

Famous White House chef Andre Rush calls on Trump to ditch burgers in 2nd term
Donald Trump has been urged to bin the burgers ahead of his second term in the White House by his famous former chef.
Washington‘s top chef Andre Rush has given the Republican some special tips to stay in great shape with the president-elect set to become the oldest ever leader of the US.
Trump is known as a big foodie and has regularly been spotted tucking into chicken nuggets or take-away burgers before washing it all down with a diet Coke.
Rush, who cooked for Trump in his first presidential reign, told TMZ: “The president-elect has a history with his food. Everybody is talking about his food.”
The chef says when he used to plate up dishes for the former and now incoming US leader it would often be burgers, tacos or meatloaf.
With Trump, aged 70 at the time, having a number of often unhealthy eating habits due to his hectic schedule.
Rush fears that with another four years passing and Trump continuing to stay active he will have to improve his diet.
He said: “He’s 78 years old so his food habits should change. I’m not saying they are going to change but back in the day he was always on the run.
“Not eating for like 16/17 hours a day, never ate breakfast much, wasn’t a lunch guy really.
“His main meal was dinner but now you’ve got to think that that was back then.
“Now it’s up to the chefs to understand and also kinda manipulate to try and get him to eat more healthy.”

Could Trump help in sending people to Mars?
Donald Trump’s right-hand man Elon Musk has been desperate to send people to Mars on his Starship rocket, and the new President-elect could help him with that, experts claim.
Musk has been a key figure in Trump’s attempt at a second White House term, with the tech billionaire joining the presidential nominee at several campaign stops before November 5.
The X owner, who voiced his support for Trump’s candidacy following the July 13 attempted assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania, has also invested over $119 million in his super PAC backing the former president.
Now a space expert claims a “more realistic Mars plan” is to be created “at a minimum” under Trump who will set the red planet “as an objective”.
SpaceX, Musk and the Trump campaign are yet to comment on this and a NASA spokeswoman said it “wouldn’t be appropriate to speculate on any changes with the new administration.”
