Iran and its “Axis of Resistance”Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah, the Houthis in Yemen, parts of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), and Syria’s former regimesuffered defeats large and small in 2024. In the past, Iran has sought to capitalize on the networked nature of its partnerships to rebuild after setbacks, providing a potential blueprint for Iran’s next moves in the region.

Dr. Renad Mansour, senior research fellow and project director of the Iraq Initiative at Chatham House joins Dr. Jon Alterman, director of the CSIS Middle East Program in a discussion about Dr. Mansour’s recent paper, Reshaping Iran’s Axis: Navigating Adaptive Transnational Networks in the Middle East. They will discuss Dr. Mansour’s assessment of Iran’s resilience in the face of transnational challenges and explore more effective approaches to Iran and its allies.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
