Southeastern Iran was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 on Monday, the UAE’s National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

The National Seismic Monitoring Network’s stations recorded the shake at 10.25am UAE time, it added.

The tremor was at a depth of 40.4km.

Earthquakes are frequent in Iran because the country is located in a seismically active region where the Arabian Plate collides with the Eurasian Plate.
