Call from Qatar ‘made’ Netanyahu retract his statement on the deal that would release some hostages in exchange to temporary ceasefire – Elaph, Saudi newspaper

A high-ranking Israeli official told Elaph that the call was the reason for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s retraction what he said in an interview to Channel 14. In the interview, Prime Minister claimed that he sought an agreement that would allow partial hostages release followed by resumption of fighting.

According to the source, “Qataris informed Netanyahu that his conflicting messages and statements on the hostage deal sabotage the deal” and asked him to decide whether the Biden-proposed deal was desirable for Israel. The report noted that Hamas agreed to more than 90% of the proposal.
