THE idea that Vladimir Putin may have traded nuclear secrets with Iran in a grubby deal for missiles is chilling.

It is often said the world has never been more dangerous. Now that is true.

If an increasingly desperate Putin has handed the mullahs the codes to nuclear warfare then we have entered a new era of global instability.

We know how the Tehran regime has backed Hamas and Hezbollah with traditional weapons to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

The murderous intent of the Ayatollah’s regime was evident in the missiles aimed at Israel in April this year.

As Professor Mark Almond writes today, Iranian scientists, many of whom may have been educated at our top universities, have spent years enriching uranium.

SEEING violent criminals being disgorged from our prisons early was sickening.

But our report today that HMP Dartmoor has remained closed for the past two months is shocking.

The jail has a capacity of 700 inmates yet stood empty as 1,700 convicts were released last week.

Ministry of Justice officials claim they are working to remove dangerous radon gas.

But safety experts claim the work could be done in days and in the midst of this crisis there is still no re-opening date.

The government must sort out this mess immediately. Instead of using the Tories as their own Get out of Jail Free card.
