Crossing Democracy’s Red Line: Why Netanyahu Wants to Dismiss Israel’s Attorney General

Opinion |

Israeli Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara is facing the full force of Netanyahu’s onslaught on the rule of law, an attack by a reckless, shameful, incompetent prime minister who prizes his Kahanist ministers over the lives of Israeli hostages

If there is one individual and ray of light around the government table that still staunchly preserves the rule of law and respects the essential democratic values on which Israel is based, it is Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara. She has courageously withstood the onslaught of coalition ministers who are guided by cynicism and political motivations to manipulate the law and strengthen their power with no credible oversight. The attempt to dismiss the attorney general is yet another stain on this grossly incompetent coalition and a boundary that must not be crossed.
