Six more months of intensive American attacks on Houthi strongholds failed to eliminate the threat of Yemeni missiles and drones. Then-U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Charles Brown added in July 2024 that the crisis in the Red Sea cannot be solved solely through military force against the Houthis.
