Iranians are about to go to the polls to elect a new president. Given the poor performance of the economy in the past few years, it is no secret that financial survival is a top concern for the average citizen. Mindful of voter priorities, it is probably no coincidence that the first of five televised debates between the six candidates focused on economic issues, including what each will do about a consistent decline in purchasing power.

Given that the Iranian economy has experienced very high inflation for the past seven years, addressing the impacts is a top agenda item for all presidential hopefuls.
