Israel strikes southern Beirut after Hezbollah launches multiple rockets at Tel Aviv

Israel’s offensive on alleged Hezbollah infrastructure intensifies. A huge explosion rocked Beirut’s southern suburb on October 23. Intensifying exchanges of fire come as US makes a final major push for peace between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, Hamas. US State Secretary Blinken toured the Middle East region, pushing for a Gaza and Lebanon ceasefire. Even after US’ push for the peace deal, plumes of smoke were seen rising over Beirut on October 24. As Israeli strikes pounded Beirut, Hezbollah said it fired precision-guided missiles for the first time at Israeli targets. Israel has been carrying out an escalating offensive in Lebanon after a year of border clashes with Hezbollah. This is the most formidably armed of Iran’s proxy forces across the Middle East. Israel’s offensive has driven at least 1.2 million Lebanese from their homes and killed 2,530 people.
