Kremlin says will continue its push for peaceful resolution of Iran’s nuclear program

Earlier, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated, commenting on a letter from US President Donald Trump seeking a new round of talks on Tehran’s nuclear program that the Islamic republic will not engage with the United States as Washington is looking to impose demands on it. On Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei, for one, said that Tehran had not received any such letter.

Iran is a sovereign country that can formulate its stance on major foreign policy issues independently, the Russian presidential spokesman added. “Clearly, very tense negotiations are in store,” he emphasized.

“Iran is seeking negotiations based on mutual respect, constructive ones, at that. Of course, we will continue to do everything in our power and everything we can to put this process of resolving the situation around the Iranian nuclear program onto a peaceful track,” Peskov shared.
