“We are also working on initiatives that will assist our Iranian partners in finalizing the ratification process,” Lavrov added.
He also mentioned that in 2023, an interdepartmental commission on Caspian cooperation was established in Russia, under his chairmanship.
“We have proposed a range of solutions at the expert level, and our Iranian colleagues are reviewing them. I will have contacts with Iranian representatives soon. We discuss these issues at every meeting,” he said.
When asked about the prospects for Iran’s ratification of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea, Lavrov said that Iran is currently linking the ratification of the convention with how to establish “direct baselines that determine the parameters of the national zone of each state.”
