The Shanghai Cooperation Organization currently has ten member states, namely Belarus, China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Afghanistan and Mongolia enjoy the observer status, while 14 more nations (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, Egypt, Kuwait, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates) are dialogue partners.
“Amid the ongoing fundamental transformations in global politics and economics, it is becoming ever more evident that the SCO, one of the largest and most authoritative regional organizations, is establishing itself as one of the new centers of power,” he said. “In this context, cooperation between our countries within this organization is especially important. We attach major significance to joint efforts toward boosting the SCO’s economic potential, strengthening industrial cooperation, creating independent financial institutions and payment mechanisms, expanding transport and logistics capacities and regional links, counteracting new channelges and threats.
