Sebi proposes relaxing rules for stock brokers to operate from GIFT city, may end NOC requirement
Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is considering to do away with the requirement of obtaining specific no objection certificate (NOC) by registered stock brokers from the market regulator to undertake securities market related activities in Gujarat International Finance Tech-city – International Financial Services Centre (GIFT-IFSC) under a separate business unit or SBUs.
In a consultation paper released on Friday, Sebi has proposed to allow the stock brokers to conduct securities market related activities in GIFT-IFSC under a Separate Business Unit (SBU) of the stock broking entity itself.
SSF Plastics files DRHP with Sebi, plans to raise Rs 550 crore via IPO
SSF Plastics India Ltd, a one-stop packaging solutions provider, has filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the market regulator, Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), to raise Rs 550 crore through an initial public offering (IPO).
The proposed IPO comprises a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 300 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of Rs 250 crore by promoters and promoter group entities, according to the DRHP filed on Thursday.
Zerodha means zero barriers and not zero brokerage: Nithin Kamath
Clients of discount broker Zerodha have saved between Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 20,000 crore in brokerage fees over the last 10 years, founder and CEO Nithin Kamath claimed in a tweet on Friday. The company has waved off brokerage for equity deliverables.
“It’s been around 10 years since we waived off brokerage for equity delivery. Even though there is extreme pressure to change the stance, given option trading volumes are down significantly, we’ve stuck with this so far. Over the 10 years of being free, our clients have saved between Rs 2000 and 20,000 crores as equity delivery brokerage. And yeah, Zerodha = Zero + Barriers (Sanskrit), not Zero + brokerage,” the tweet said.
Rupee posts largest weekly rise in more than 2 years on inflows
The Indian rupee posted its best day in over a month and strongest week in two years, ending at 85.9725 per USD. It hit a 10-week high amid dollar inflows and market optimism. Analysts warn of depreciation pressure if it fails to breach 85.90, with support at 86.80-87.00.
