Tel Aviv Police District Commander Peretz Amar said that it is still unclear what caused the explosion in central Tel Aviv at 3:15 A.M. on Friday.
“The blast apparently occurred at some altitude,” Amar said. “We still do not know what it was. Right now, we are clearing the area. There was a lucky escape here.”
Addressing the possibility that the blast was caused by a drone, Amar said that “it is hard to say where it came from. We have testimony from civilians who say a red lump in the sky, which would explain why the explosion was not in a building or on the ground. These are our first impressions.”
He added that the blast could be heard in several adjacent towns.
IDF says unaware of infiltration into Israeli airspace before Tel Aviv blast
The IDF says that, while there is no information to suggest that a hostile aircraft entered Israeli airspace on Friday morning, the military is looking into the possibility that the blast in Tel Aviv, in which two people were lightly injured, was caused by a drone.
The blast occurred just meters away from the U.S. Embassy building in Tel Aviv.

MILWAUKEE – Former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Thursday that “Joe Biden eased up on President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign … [and] gave money to the Ayatollah so he could cut more checks to the genocidal maniacs who conducted barbaric attacks on Israel.”
Pompeo added that “Biden won’t even talk about how Americans are still being held there by the Iranian regime. Contrast that with what we did when Americans were wrongfully held,” referring to his efforts to free pastors from captivity in North Korea. “We did so without paying one single penny to the terrorists.”
“As we sit here today, he and Vice President Harris are providing appeasement to the pro-Hamas radicals on our streets here inside the United States.”
