Gold smuggling case: Actor Ranya Rao remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody
Kannada actor Harshavardhini Ranya alias Ranya Rao who was arrested in a gold smuggling case was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by a special court for economic offences, on Monday. The actor was in the custody of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for three days for interrogation.

ED raids Bhupesh Baghel’s son, others in Chhattisgarh liquor ‘scam’ case
The Enforcement Directorate on Monday searched the premises of former Chhattisgarh CM and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel as part of a probe against his son in an alleged liquor scam linked to a money laundering case, official sources said. The premises of Bhupesh Baghel’s son — Chaitanya Baghel — in Bhillai and some other persons in the state are being searched under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources said.
India imposes anti-dumping duty on water treatment chemical from China, Japan
India has imposed anti-dumping duty of up to $986 per tonne for five years on a chemical, used for water treatment, imported from China and Japan to protect the domestic industry from cheap inbound shipments, according to a Finance Ministry notification. The decision follows recommendations from the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), an investigation arm of the Commerce Ministry, to impose the duty on ‘Trichloro isocyanuric acid’.

Russia expels two British diplomats from embassy in Moscow over espionage claims
Russia said on Monday it was expelling two British diplomats based at the embassy in Moscow over spying allegations. Russia’s Federal Security Service, or FSB, said in a statement quoted by the state news agency RIA Novosti that the two diplomats had provided false personal data while seeking permission to enter the country and had engaged in alleged intelligence and subversive activities that threatened Russia’s security. It didn’t offer any evidence.

Keep tobacco, alcohol ads out of IPL: Health Ministry
The Union Healthy Ministry has instructed the Indian Premier League to ban all forms of tobacco and alcohol promotions, including surrogate advertisements, during the tournament beginning March 22. In a letter to IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, Director General of Health Services Atul Goel said cricket players, who are role models to the youth of India, should not be directly or indirectly connected to any form of tobacco or alcohol advertising.
